Society is increasingly sensitive to anthropogenic effects on the natural environment and the public perception is that we do not always weigh the benefits of activities against the associated environmental cost. Such themes are significant within environmental conservation and management.

The disciplines here help deal with many challenges facing our planet, country and locality which are central to the future of society.

We are in close proximity to magnificent natural and physical resources of the south, mid and west Wales and the University and its staff play a major role within the conservation and heritage management of these and other similar national assets.

Assessment

We believe that course content should involve the combined consideration of academic and vocational intent for students to develop a skill and knowledge set which is fit for the workplace.

Hence, this MSc was designed with environmental managers and applies current ‘live’ assessments/events to keep the content responsive to the ever-changing needs of employers, their employees, and the ever-changing environmental agenda.

Career Opportunities

Postgraduates from our Environmental Conservation and Management MSc have embarked on careers with a wide variety of employers within the environmental management sector, including environmental consultancy, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities, waste management, water companies, teaching and environmental NGOs both in the UK and across the globe. Graduates have also successfully completed doctoral-level studies in various Universities around the world.
