专业概况

We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering as a traditional campus program and through distance education. Through distance education, our program is offered both online and in a weekend format. Information on our distance education offerings can be found within the Technology Off-Campus Degree Programs.

Our program is one of the longest-accredited programs in the U.S. by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).

The Industrial Management and Applied Engineering major has as its objective the training of qualified personnel who can develop and direct the production and distribution of products and services. The major is designed to prepare management-oriented technical professionals in the economic-enterprise system.

About a third of the total hours will be in the University’s Core Curriculum (courses required of all students pursuing a bachelor’s degree) and will provide students with a broad background in the liberal arts and sciences to improve communication skills and to help them understand the world in which they will be making decisions.

The majority of the time will be spent taking Industrial Management and Applied Engineering Core requirements and technical electives that will help students meet their career objectives.

Industrial Management and Applied Engineering focuses on the management and business aspects of manufacturing. Highly demanded technical areas of the Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program include lean manufacturing, six sigma, supply chain, computer-aided manufacturing, manufacturing processes, and robotics. A well-rounded curriculum provides graduates with a variety of career options as engineers, managers, and supervisors.

Students will be well trained in the high-demand technical and managerial areas of: Six Sigma; Lean manufacturing; Quality control; Computer-aided manufacturing; Industrial robotics; Manufacturing processes; Industrial safety; Facilities planning; Cost estimating; Personnel supervision.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES

Three to five years after graduation from the BS in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program, graduates will: Work professionally in the fields of industrial management and applied engineering in either manufacturing, healthcare or service sectors, working in areas such as quality engineering, production/manufacturing engineering, lean/six sigma, logistics, supply chain management, or safety; Achieve personal and professional success by assuming positions of leadership and/or increasing responsibility within the organization; Pursue continued life-long learning through further graduate education, certifications, short courses or other training programs in engineering or related fields; Participate in and contribute to professional societies and community services; Utilize teamwork, communication and engineering management skills.
