专业概况

The secondary education integrated science chemistry program seeks to improve the quality of teaching in secondary schools by:

• preparing well-qualified candidates for positions in schools in diverse communities
• identifying, disseminating and developing a commitment to the use of professional knowledge based on grounded research and established practice
• cultivating inquiry and reflective practice
• fostering a commitment to collaboration and lifelong learning among program participants and graduates

The secondary education program prepares candidates to teach adolescents and young adults (grades 7-12).

Success

Candidates who succeed as teachers of adolescents and young adults:

• know how individuals learn and develop
• can articulate the central concepts, tools of inquiry and the structures of their discipline
• effectively collaborate with others
• demonstrate leadership
• address issues of diversity with equity
• use technology to support their practice

Career

Graduates of the secondary education integrated science chemistry program assume teaching positions in science. Secondary education graduates usually elect to teach in Ohio, but graduates teach across the nation.

为来自中国的学生设计 Student need to have: Graduation from an accredited high school of preparatory school; Successful completion of 16 units of college-preparatory subjects: English (4 units); biology and chemistry (2 units); college-prep mathematics (3 units); social sciences (2 units) fine arts (1 unit); additional college preparatory subjects (4 units). Recommended: foreign language, anatomy and physiology or a third unit in social science with a grade of C or better in all required courses; Recommended minimum high school GPA of 3.0; Completed application and official high school or preparatory school transcripts.
