OUR PROGRAM: One of the very few automotive technology Baccalaureate degree universities supplying the industry. Only degree of its kind in the State of Illinois; Meeting the goals of students and businesses involved in the automotive, truck, power generation, ground equipment and related transportation industries; Only Automotive Technology Program in a research university; Established in 1952 and supplier of quality employees and internship students to industry; First ASE/NATEF Master Level Certification program in the State of Illinois; One of the most widely respected automotive technology programs in the world.
THE CURRICULUM: Theoretical, applied and problem-based learning. The most applied technical training in any program; Technical and industry specific business, computing and interpersonal communication courses; Challenging, comprehensive and individualized; Industry directed and supported by devoted and committed National Advisory Board and alumni; Career and industry relevant, adjusted and flexible to allow various career emphasis areas, minors or dual majors.
THE STUDENTS: Enrollment of approximately 250 national and international students with 70+ graduates per year; Competitive Admissions for Freshmen and Transfer students; Equipped with applied hands-on learning experiences and the professional skill sets required for success in today's competitive global workplace; Student involvement in industry lead Special Projects both on and off campus; Industry internships and extensions strongly emphasized; Experience in a fast paced team and autonomous environment with leadership opportunities.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Automotive Technology provides an educational environment for students to acquire professional, research, and technical skills necessary for success in the automotive industry and other related industries. The faculty conduct applied research in automotive fields and provide service to the community.
GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
The goals of the SIU Automotive Technology Program are to provide the opportunity for students to develop: Critical thinking skills in business and technical problem solving; Technical knowledge, understanding and skills for applied tasks of the ASE/NATEF Accreditation; Effective written, oral and presentation interpersonal skills; Computer knowledge and skills to research, manage, report and present industry related data; Industry business/management knowledge and professional practice; Awareness of the safety and environmental concerns related to the industry.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed a high school or equivalent. Academic Requirements (grade point averages are on a 4.0 scale and are calculated by SIU): 26 credits or more at another college/university - submit college/university transcripts showing a GPA of 2.0 or greater on all coursework; 0-25 credits at another college/university - submit high school AND university/college transcripts showing 2.0 GPA on all coursework; 5 Passes on the GCE O or A level exams (under the Cambridge/ed excel model). English Language Requirement: TOEFL - 68 on the internet-based test; TOEFL - 520 on the paper-based test; ITEP - 4.0 (academic plus only); IELTS - 6.0.课程信息
