If making a difference is important to you, then you may want to consider a career in the nonprofit sector! The Rock's Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management program is Pennsylvania's only undergraduate program that prepares students to make a difference while making a living.

Our dedicated faculty will teach you how to:

  • develop, manage and evaluate programs
  • generate funds through grants and special events, prepare budgets and maintain financial records
  • create marketing tools and public relations materials
  • conduct human resources functions like hiring and evaluating staff
  • recruit and supervise volunteers
  • advocate for social change

Hands-on projects for and networking with regional nonprofits, your internship and the student professional association's activities you will allow you to practice using what you're learning in class while you're still in school. By graduation, prospective employers will recognize that you know both theory and best practices and are ready to make a difference from the first day on the job!

WHY CHOOSE PHILANTHROPY AND NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT?

Talented people from all academic areas - accounting to zoology - are needed in the nonprofit sector as it touches every aspect of life - animals, the arts and humanities, children and youth, the environment, faith, health and wellness, international development, recreation and leisure, senior citizens, social justice and social services, veterans and, yes, even zoos. Nonprofits are looking for people, just like you, who want to change the world! When you graduate with an SRU degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management, you'll be ready to:

  • join the fastest growing employment sector in the world (44,000+ new jobs each year)
  • launch your career in one of the nation's 1.6 million nonprofit organizations where more than 11.4 million people are changing lives everyday
  • manage agencies and projects, provide direct services to those in need, advocate for social justice and raise funds to change the world
  • be part of an elite group of passionate, highly qualified college graduates who bring both advanced knowledge and experience to the nonprofit sector
  • earn a national average starting salary of $39,172 plus have the satisfaction of knowing your work really matters

Our graduates are highly competitive in the job market as SRU is the only university in Pennsylvania that offers an undergraduate degree in philanthropy and nonprofit management and is one of fewer than 25 nationally. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Programs-Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management, these students are eligible for the nation's only nonprofit management credential, Certified Nonprofit Professional, which is awarded by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

Students may choose Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management as their first major. As the program is flexible, students can also easily secure PNPM as a second major or earn a minor within their four years at SRU.
