专业概况

Finance is an analytical discipline focusing on critical decisions faced by individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations. It integrates disciplines, drawing on economics as the basis of its theory, accounting as the basis for understanding the information used in the decision making process and the tools of quantitative analysis for the analytical work. An understanding of financial theory and practice evolves to serve as a basis for either entering a financial position in the work force or continuing with graduate studies.

Success

Successful individuals in finance possess excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze information. Other attributes include: Quantitative proficiency, Ability to identify and control risk, Strong organizational skills, Detail-orientation, excellent oral, written and electronic communication capabilities, Leadership skills, Competence in decision-making, Capacity for teamwork.

Career

Finance graduates are prepared to work in the broad areas of financial institutions and markets, investments and corporate finance. Corporate finance opportunities include: Credit analyst/manager, Treasury analyst, Cash manager, Capital budgeting analyst. Investment opportunities include: Securities analyst, Stock broker, Securities trader, Currency trader, Investment banker, Portfolio manager, Financial Planning and Wealth Management (CFP). Positions in financial institutions and markets include: Credit trust officer, Branch manager, Bank examiner, Operations officer, Loan officer.

为来自中国的学生设计 Student need to have: Graduation from an accredited high school of preparatory school; Successful completion of 16 units of college-preparatory subjects: English (4 units); biology and chemistry (2 units); college-prep mathematics (3 units); social sciences (2 units) fine arts (1 unit); additional college preparatory subjects (4 units). Recommended: foreign language, anatomy and physiology or a third unit in social science with a grade of C or better in all required courses; Recommended minimum high school GPA of 3.0; Completed application and official high school or preparatory school transcripts.
