专业概况

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is a broad program of study encompassing all aspects of computing technology. Information technology, as an academic discipline, focuses on meeting the needs of users within organizational and societal contexts through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies. Information technology is a discipline distinct from computer engineering, computer science and management information systems.

The BSIT program at the University of Cincinnati provides broad foundation in the areas of software application development (Web, mobile, enterprise and desktop), networking and systems administration (including technologies for data centers and storage), database management (design and administration) and digital media (development of digital images, audio and video to support IT solutions) and cyber security. The students' experience is culminated by the senior design experience - a two-semester exploration developing a real-life IT solution. Students present their senior projects to the community in an IT technology expo at the end of the spring semester of every year.

Successful professionals in the information technology field are those who are passionate about using computer technology to provide solutions to issues facing individuals, societies and organizations. They are interested in developing good problem solving skills and good communication habits.

Career

Information technology careers lead all other careers in projected job growth in this decade, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The IT professional is hired by organizations of all sizes in all industries. Typical positions held by recent graduates include software developer, programmer, web developer, network administrator/manager, system administrator, network engineer, information security analyst, help center analyst, internet engineer, IT consultant, business systems consultant, implementation engineer and OS analyst.

为来自中国的学生设计 Student need to have: Graduation from an accredited high school of preparatory school; Successful completion of 16 units of college-preparatory subjects: English (4 units); biology and chemistry (2 units); college-prep mathematics (3 units); social sciences (2 units) fine arts (1 unit); additional college preparatory subjects (4 units). Recommended: foreign language, anatomy and physiology or a third unit in social science with a grade of C or better in all required courses; Recommended minimum high school GPA of 3.0; Completed application and official high school or preparatory school transcripts.
