专业概况
在这里学什么？The Civil Engineering programme is structured on a flexible and diverse system that allows you to choose from a broad range of courses to receive a well-rounded education while maintaining high academic standards.
Students take the common engineering courses which deals with basic concepts in mathematics, science and fundamental engineering principles, followed by a balanced-mix of core courses in the civil engineering discipline.
Courses offered include basic theory of structures, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, engineering drawing & measurement, structural analysis, design in concrete and steel structures, and specialized courses in foundation, transportation and environmental engineering.
During the course of study, students also have the chance to register for Industrial Orientation (IO) in a private company or public organization, where they learn to practise civil engineering under the guidance of experienced engineers and managers.
In the final year, the programme concentrates on training students in professional civil engineering practice as well as managerial and entrepreneurial skills and students are also required to complete a two-semester duration research project in any of the specializations in civil engineering.u200b
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Business
A Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering with Business Major would be offered jointly by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Nanyang Business School.
Students are trained in both Engineering and Business over the normal programme duration of 4 years. Graduates of this programme will have enhanced competitive advantage and market value and access to a wider breadth of career options and opportunities.
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Business (International Trading)
Specialization in International Trading would be offered to the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering and Business Major. It is jointly offered by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Nanyang Business School. This programme will allow graduate to enhance competitive advantage for career opportunities in the Industries of International Trading.
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Society & Urban Systems
A Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Society & Urban Systems would be offered jointly by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
Students will be trained with knowledge in social sciences aspects of urban systems planning and policy-making, while maintaining a firm engineering foundation over the normal programme duration (i.e. 4 years). Graduates from this programme will have enhanced competitive advantage and market value with a career in Sustainable Urban Systems.
Double Degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) and Bachelor of Arts (Economics)
This double degree programme of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Economics is offered jointly by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Social Sciences.
It aims to equip students with excellent knowledge and competency in Engineering and Economics over the programme duration of 5 years. Graduates of this programme can expect more career options in the engineering-and-economics-related and beyond. Engineers who have strong economic knowledge will be better equipped for management positions when moving up the corporate ladder.
