The Psychology 3+3 Pre-Counseling is an accelerated program that enables you to complete the undergraduate courses required to begin graduate study in 3 years. It prepares you to become a licensed Counselor, working in a variety of counseling settings. This program is unique because it offers a strong basis in the biopsychosocial processes of human functioning. You will receive personal attention and gain insightful knowledge through activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Our goal is not only to prepare you for a future career, but also to enhance your personal, academic, and professional growth, so you can go on to promote the well-being of others.

WHY CHOOSE PSYCHOLOGY: PRE-COUNSELING 3+3?

The program is an accelerated preparation for graduate study in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Courses are blocked to ensure that you will receive preparation in all areas of Psychology, consistent with the biopsychosocial model used in counseling. After completing the core required courses, you will choose electives in each of the following areas:

• Applied Psychology
• Biobehavioral Psychology
• Developmental Psychology
• Diversity

During your final year, you will also complete a professional competency course in either research or community practice.

Students graduating from this program, in tandem with the MA in Counseling at SRU, will be prepared for the following careers:

• Addictions Counseling
• School and Youth Counseling
• College Counseling

为来自中国的学生设计 International applicants who have not enrolled in any post secondary institution since graduating high school should apply as freshmen. Advanced standing may be considered for those students who have completed IB programs, GCE A-levels (advanced or advanced subsidiary) examinations. English language requirements: Applicants must score a minimum of 61 on the internet based test (iBT), a minimum of 500 on the written test or a minimum of a 173 on the computer based test. Applicants must receive an overall IELTS score at band 6.0 or above.
